Middletown is the southern gateway to Lake County and only about 18 miles from Calistoga over Mt. St Helena. The town is rather small but does have many residential ranches in the area, taking advantage of the level land with mountain views. Hidden Valley Lake is 4 miles north of Middletown and with over 3000 home sites, generally cheaper than Middletown itself, is a favored as a residential area for commuters travelling south for work.
